No Easy Day: The Autobiography of a Navy Seal by Mark Owen with Kevin Mauer
This is the story of one Navy SEAL, from boyhood to SEAL training to the death of Bin Laden and its aftermath.
While I did not understand, sometimes disagreeing on a visceral level, this story was told in a relatable way, and is probably a pretty accurate depiction of the life of a SEAL. The narrator tells us again and again about the personal sacrifices made, and about the convictions that keep them going. It would be a good book to put into the hands of anyone thinking of enlisting, especially at this level. I can’t say I’d recommend it for the final list. While I enjoyed it more than I thought I would (I thought I’d hate it), I don’t think it has a wide appeal.
