FlumeAward – The Boundless The Boundless by Kenneth Oppel
I haven’t read this yet, but it’s up for the GSF consideration, so maybe a little young? – Liz, Merrimack PL
I think it might be a better candidate for Isinglass than GSF, but I agree that it might be a little young for Flume. -Danny, Rodgers Memorial Library
It was interesting to read about the cross-country railroad development in Canada, since all I’d ever read/heard about before was in the U.S.
Wil’s father works on building the railroad, and then running the train, once its built. Wil seems to get caught up in adventures that include circus folk, Sasquatches, witches, etc. This was a fun adventure/suspense book that captured my imagination almost immediately, and, since it follows Wil from boy to young man, will appeal to a wide range of ages. Equally of interest to boys and girls, with all of the romance and intrigue. Also, the references to classic literature may be lost on younger readers, but won’t detract from the story.

I am in the process of reading this book. I like the story, but I agree that it is more geared to the Isinglass list.
