Jack wakes up one morning to an alarm of his own making -a chain reaction device that culminates with a creature flying into his forehead, leaving a mark. Things go downhill from there, and he discovers that he’s got a deadly condition that kills kids before their 14th birthdays, linked to the seven wonders of the world, and meets three other kids with the same condition.
The ages of the characters may deter older teens from reading this book, and it was published for children, but the adventure and revelations will keep anybody interested. Probably too young for the Flume.
