FlumeAward – The Last Dragonslayer The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde
I thought this was a great fantasy book for the non-fantasy reader, “fantasy lite”. Loved the protagonist, spunky female character, self-deprecating, humorous and sweet. I would recommend this over the other fantasy/dragon book, Seraphina. Rachel Hopkins Salem HS
I also thought this was good, but felt it is more a title for younger readers (5-7th grade) and I wouldn’t recommend as a Flume book. Mary Lockhart Howe Library
I love Jasper Fforde’s books, and this is a good intro for those who might find his other books intimidating. It is young, though.

I tried to get into this book, but it just didn’t hold my interest. It does seem young for the Flume list.
Kathy Pearce, Oyster River HS
Jasper Fforde is second only to Terry Pratchett in my estimation. I loved this book but its appearance make it appealing to a younger audience. I think this is a shame and I hope it is on the Isinglass list. Maybe another one of Fforde’s books will be nominated in future years. Sally Nelson, Leach Library. Londonderry
