FlumeAward – The Sweetest Spell The Sweetest Spell by Suzanne Selfors
This book is a fairy tale about churning milk into chocolate. It was light, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable. I think it would appeal almost exclusively to girls. It could go on the final list depending on how it compares to other nominated books – it’s not exactly thought provoking or life changing, just a really good read. -Katherine Bollenbach, Belmont Public Library
A sweet fairytale. Emmeline is a strong protagonist with the unexpected gift of communicating with cows, which leads to her other unexpected gift. Selfors made an interesting comment on ruling classes and the fact that history is written by the victors. An intelligent addition to the list, but probably a girl book.
