FlumeAward – The Time Keeper

FlumeAward – The Time Keeper The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom

This is the story of Father Time, how he created time, his life, and two specific observed cases of a dying man who wants more time and a teenaged girl who wants time to fly. I listened to this one, and didn’t feel engaged in the story until the last few tracks of the last disc, but then I was suddenly all in.
There was some unnecessary repetition in the story-telling (to the point where I checked the disc to be sure it hadn’t back-tracked on me), but it was interesting that well-known stories, such as the Tower of Babel were drawn in to the story. I did have a hard time with how time was discovered, and what I know about the length of days and nights, and how they change throughout the year, that gave lie to the story being presented.
Recommended for adults and teens (due to the story of the teen girl). I don’t recommend it for the list. -Kirsten Rundquist Corbett, Sandown PL

I liked this book, but I haven’t had much luck with teens reading it/enjoy it. – Kelly Budd, Keene High School

This is an OK book, I don’t think it is as strong as some of Albom’s other titles and it hasn’t much teen appeal. Sharon Flesher, Nashua South
