FlumeAward – Unbroken Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand
An outstanding nonfiction. Though I haven’t read it, several patrons told me it was excellent. Maybe someone else can comment.

I don’t give 5 Goodreads Stars out lightly. However, this was one. Not only is the subject a fascinating person, I learned about the pacific front of WWII which I hadn’t known much of before. Similarly, I learned lessons of forgiveness that I thought were only a product of religious fiction. AND I find the level of research by the author- as well as her own story of overcoming the odds- inspiring, enlightening and truly incredible. One of my top 5 books of all time. This is a fabulous read – Zamperini grew from a juvenile delinquent into an Olympic contender, goes on to WWII, ends up in a life raft for over a month and a half, becomes a POW and finally makes his way back to the USA. It is amazing to me that one human can live through so much and I believe it would be a good book for the list. This book is eye opening, never boring, educational, amazing, inspiring. I agree with Mollie – this one fabulous. ~ Sharon Flesher, Nashua High South
