I think that this book stands completely alone. It is a good quick read that might balance out some of the longer titles that we might put on our list. Gail Zachariah, Keene Public Library

I admittedly read this over a year ago, but I remember enough to know it’s a typical Sones book. Girls will love it, and it does circulate well. I had not read the first book, and it is not necessary to do so. I also checked B&N and many readers comment that it is one of those books that can stand alone. This book would likely do well on the list.

What My Girlfriend Doesn’t Know is a wonderfully quick read, as it is told in verse, as was its prequel, What My Mother Doesn’t Know. It can stand on its own, but just barely. I had read the first book years before, and I found myself wanting to go back and read it to refresh the characters in my mind at the beginning. However, once it really veers into Robin’s story, it does better on its own. It’s a good male perspective book, and a nice contrast to the female perspective of the first book. Sexual situations definitely make this appropriate for high school aged readers.
