A novel that sucks you in (yes, it is about vampires :)……good characters and a different take on the vampire theme. These are not nice vampires who sparkle. They rule the town and use the townspeople as a front (and an occassional drink). There is a pretty rough bullying element but it should be ok for high school level students. I liked the romance involved and a little surprise element concering a character that is not a vampire but some kind of ghost attached to this house which protects them. A fun read for older teens and a series they can continue with. -Amy Inglis Barrington
