Max

FlumeAward – Max Discussion page for Max.
Max is actually book 5 of a series. It could possibly stand alone. The main character often refers to info in previous books but in a way that would make the reader want to go back and read them. This book is fantasy mixed with adventure. It would appeal to both boys and girls.

I got VERY TIRED of the author referring back to his previous books….he actually broke character to say things like "If you’d read book blah blah…you’d know more about such and such". It felt like a plug to read earlier titles which was a huge turn off for me. Can be read alone but you get much more out of it if you know the events of previous books. – Amy Inglis, barrington

I agree that there are too many references to previous books in the series and the zing is not here either.
