This is an enjoyable read that follows a familiar formula: Nerdy, clueless boy befriends then starts dating outcast girl (her face was burned in a fire), dumps her when hot girl shows interest in him and quickly realizes he made a big mistake.
The book rises above the formula because the hot girl is not mean, she has her own insecurities, the boy does not easily win back the girl, she has gained self esteem and stands up for herself. Each of the three characters grow from their experience.
Not great innovative literature but it is realistic with characters who gain insight.
