FlumeAward – Demon’s Surrender //Demon’s Surrender// by Sarah Rees Brennan
In my six years of promoting the Flume, I find that students are exasperated when a selection is not the first in the series. Although I like the series, I don’t like that this is #3. And #1 was on this year’s Flume list. Shouldn’t we be promoting other authors? If students liked #1 (and read it because we promoted it) they will choose to read others in the series on their own.

The titles that make the final 13 list must stand alone. I don’t think we have put titles on in the past that were part of a series unless they stand alone.
