FlumeAward – Tangled Discussion page for Tangled<\/em> by Carolyn Mackler<\/p>\n

Four interconnected stories told from the perspective of teens whose paths have crossed. Jena – wanting her royal prince, Dakota – an entitled "asshole" who spends his time using people, Skye – an actress leading a life divorced from contact with friends, and Owen – Dakota’s brother and a loner. Each chapter is from one of these teen’s points of view and they flow together to create a story of individual growth and finally of love. This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Convincing, engaging characters, each with their own personality, fears and experiences. Each character shows growth and change. Skye’s movie\/TV acting may spark People Magazine<\/em>-ish interest. Well written dialog. A page turner. Worthy of an award.

I loved this book. Mackler found an individual voice for each of her characters. Teens will relate to the personal insecurities but will also be offered the thought that other people’s perception is way different from their own. I, too, did not have high expectations, but if we’re looking for a girl book, this is worthy of consideration.

I would like to echo the above reviews even though I am only on page 218. Unless the ending is a bomb, this book does lure you with the character voices. I plan to finish before the meeting, but I wanted to make sure I got a few sentences in on this Wiki. Flume worthy recommendation!
