It has a very interesting premise, but it’s taking too long to get to the point. It’s about ghosts, and monsters and things going bump in the night, but too many things are going on at the same time. Timothy’s family is having trouble accepting to his older brother’s injury received during his tour of duty in Iraq. Abigail is having trouble accepting her parent’s divorce. Abigail’s grandmother is supposedly the main character in a book written about an incident that she experienced when she was a teenager. The victims of this incident is apparently returning to haunt Timothy, Abigail, their history teacher and a fellow classmate. Finding out why is the plot of the book. I am not recommending this title for the final list, mostly because the characters are seventh graders and the book reads like it was written on a 5th-7th grade reading and interest level. I can’t see any high school student being interested in the problems of these characters.
I’ll finish reading it, but only because I want to see where the author will end up, not because I’m interested in where he’s going. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
FlumeAward – The Nightmarys \/\/The Nightmarys\/\/ by Dan PoblockiI am having trouble getting through this book.
