Anna and the French Kiss

FlumeAward – Anna and the French Kiss Discussion page for Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

This book is on the list of nominated titles for 2012, so I wouldn’t repeat it again for the 2013 list.

Yes, this is already on the 2012 list!

Cute and teen girls seems to like it.

I believe this was the best book I read in 2010. Stephanie Perkins created an excellent teen environment that was wholly realistic and believeable. I think she is an incredible author and this book was fantastic. It appeals to teen girls, there’s not a whole lot in there for guys. There was plenty of humor, a few steamy kisses, a few not-so-steamy kisses, France, pasteries and holiday breaks. The love interest was completely dreamy and conflicted. I think this would be a great book on the top 13.

Despite the fact the cover is awful, this is a completely adorable book that teen girls will swoon over. The main character is very real, and her mistakes and emotions are genuine. I also love that the author started it during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) which is encouraging to aspiring writers everywhere who take part in that challenge.

I agree with Brittany and Sophie–the cover is awful but the book is excellent. Anna is a very real teen that many girls will relate to, and the situations are interesting but still believable. I was hooked. Also, I liked how the author dealt with the typical teen issues (drinking, for example)–she showed consequences without preaching and but didn’t glamorize things, either.

Girls will love this. How many of them will fantasize about romance in an exotic seeting, and how much more romantic can you get than France? Having said that, Perkins added a good dose of reality – as Caitlin said. I agree that this would be a good top 13 book, unless we are over-weighted with girl books.

Not gonna lie–I loathe the title but love this book. (It was a little embarrassing reading it at the gym!) It’s totally a girl read–a little romance in Paris, a little girl drama, relationship angst, and it mostly everything is satisfying about the ending. I think this is Flume worthy and very appealing. I am liking lots of the contemporary chick lit choices this year–it will be hard to pick!
