FlumeAward – Audrey, Wait! Discussion page for Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway
This is a fantasy of the MTV, IM variety. Audrey breaks up with her boyfriend Evan, who writes a song about it, which skyrockets his band the Do Gooders to the top of the charts. Audrey is hounded by the paparazzi to the point where she has to spend her days in the principal’s office to avoid attracting attention. Glib in a sit-com kind of way, with tons of sarcastic teen talk. But it’s a page turner, funny, romantic and good vanquishes evil. A good story, and a possiblity for the list.

I read this last year and I’m frustrated that I didn’t comment. This is a ‘glee’ type book–a bit edgy, funny, a bit of love, and it holds your attention. I think it is a list candidate.

I agree. Teen girls will love it, and it is much better than the usual chick-lit. The humor and edginess will hold the reader’s attention all the way to the end. A great summer read and a great book for the list.
