FlumeAward – Bliss Discussion page for Bliss.
I was not expecting to like this book – at all. I did, however, find it easy to read and I wanted to finish it.
Bliss Inthemorningdew (yes that is her real name) has been dropped off at her grandmother’s house in Atlanta, Georgia by her hippie parents as they head off to Canada. She is about to begin her freshman year of high school at Crestview Academy after never having attended traditional schools, because she was raised mainly on a commune.
She makes some friends and even enters a flirtation with a very cute junior named Mitchell Truman. There are many positive things going on in Bliss’s new life, even when she continues to hear the evil voice in her head. Things take a bad turn when one of her new friends begins a descent into darkness and tries to take Bliss with her.
This book reminds a bit of ‘Carrie’ for kids. In a nutshell, it is not worthy of a Flume position, but it’s not as bad as some other kid horror out there. I’d recommend it to girls who want a bit of a VC Andrews style book.
