I found this book to be heavy and stilted. The concept of 16th century Japanese vampire ninjas should be enough to attract all teenagers – after all, Twilight managed it! The plot drags and is repetitive and, with the exception of Hiro, the non-vampire, the characters do not engage with the reader. This would make an excellent graphic novel but instead it is simply tedious.
