If I Stay

FlumeAward – If I Stay Discussion page for //If I Stay// by Gayle Forman

If I Stay by Gayle Forman is wonderfully written, thought provoking, a supremely serious trip through the possibilities of being in a coma. The possibilities of being in a coma? Yes, seventeen year old Mia uses this time to weigh the options available to her, specifically should she go (die) or stay? In approximately 200 pages, Mia remembers many wonderful friend and family times, considers all the things she probably could never do again (if she stays) and wonders if whatever life she’d have is worth staying for. This book is a fine addition to the Flume list, appealing to readers grade 7-12, perhaps more for girls than guys. gka

This is on the Isinglass Teen Read List for 2011…great book but the kids may have read it already. Amy I.

This was on Teen Top Ten last year, so I think teens will have already read it.It’s a good book.

I just read the sequel, Where She Went, which works as a standalone novel and is told from the boy’s point-of-view. I’d consider that over If I Stay at this point.
