I couldn’t help but fall in love with both Nick and Norah as they fall in love…in spite of frequent use of the f*** word – on every page!! The story takes place during one night when these two teens meet at a club. Nick is trying to let his ex know that he has a girlfriend too, though he doesn’t; he grabs Norah who happens to be nearby, and asks her if she would be his girlfriend for five minutes. The night wears on and through their encounters, they discover that they are both "straight-edged" and love similar music. (Nick’s in a band) Norah gets over thinking she is frigid (her last boyfriend told her that she was) and at the end of this long night, the possibilities are endless – infinite, actually – for them. Told in two narratives, we get both their perspectives on events that occur, and the plot is advanced through their voices. I could see this being quite popular with teens, but is it over the top for them? A little too "cool"? Also, our library has barely circulated our copy. Not sure how well it has done in other libraries. The film was released in Oct 2008, but I didn’t hear ANYTHING about it! After watching the movie clip online, it looks like liberties were taken with the story. Anyway, I think it’s a good pick for the Flume list. – Lisa Houde Rye Public Library
I loved this book and agree with Lisa questioning whether it might be too cool and over the top. I had a student from NYC read it, and she felt it was authentic and plausible. However, it doesn’t get read as much as I anticipated…

To be honest, this book bored the pants off me. I didn’t even bother to finish it. It was teen-age angst, and pretty trite at that. It had so much potential, but didn’t live up to my hopes. Danielle, Chesley Memorial Library, Northwood
