This was a great book that lets kids into a kind of new world. In Quaking, Matt (the main character) lives with a cousin she calls Loopy. Matt has actually lived with a lot of her cousins. Matt dresses "goth" and is on her way to live with her Quaker relatives (she thought Quakers were extinct), while her cousin Loopy goes of on a mission trip (to places where people haven’t even heard of Jesus). Although she finds the Quaker life a little odd, they accept her how she is and do not try to convert her, but rather help her to find herself. Unfortunately things are not all hunky-dory. Violence finds them in the form of peace haters who attack the people and churches who believe in peace. As the violence grows closer and closer to Matt’s new home, she fears there’s nothing she can do to stop it and that these people are just one more bully she has to endure.
