Ozobots at Play at the Stratford Library

From Tom at the Stratford Library:

The Ozobots are easy to use and set up for kids.  Markers and paper seem to be the bigger hit for the iPad app is cool but the surface of the iPad only so big so there’s not much you can do on it with the Ozobot app.  I couldn’t get the Ozobot Groove app to work with the Ozobots (it should them dance) nor could my 12 year old daughter.  Maybe I just need to play around with it more.

With markers, don’t use Sharpie’s for it bleeds through to your surface you’re working on and I found out the hard way.  The Crayola markers are great and the kids do have to hold them at an angle to get the proper width in the lines or the Ozobot will just stop.  The proper line width and making the dot command codes big enough seem to main challenge the kids have.  But I tell them to try again and they usually get it.  It is a lot lot like programming code: some trail and error involved.

I found some printouts of games and the commands from the Ozobot site: http://www.ozobot.com/gamezone/ so the command/instruction card they came with doesn’t get trashed by the kids.

Overall they are pretty fun and the kids can see results right away.
